Abstract

Research on Russian postmodern literature and authors remains an underexplored area in our country. Investigating the links between Russian and Vietnamese authors through a postmodern lens is likely to yield numerous novel insights. Drawing on the perspectives of researcher Dao Tuan Anh, the author delves into and elucidates these relationships using the unique fragmentation techniques typical of postmodern literature, highlighted in elements such as character development, spatial and temporal settings, with specific examples from Victor Pelevin’s Chapaev and Pustota and Bao Ninh's The Sorrow of War. The paper utilizes several research methodologies, such as a statistical-classificatory approach to explore particular expressions of fragmentation; an analytical-synthetic approach to highlight the artistic style features of both authors; and a comparative approach to spotlight the parallels and contrasts in the writings of Victor Pelevin and Bao Ninh. The findings demonstrate that this distinct artistic approach provides readers with a fresh, complex, and profoundly engaging view on war, humanity, and life's realities.
