Abstract

On the one hand, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels viewed science as an element of social consciousness; on the other hand, they pointed out the material power of science in the practical transformation of social life. This article analyzes and clarifies the views of Marx and Engels on science: that it is both a product of historical development and a powerful driving force for the movement and development of productive forces in particular and socio-economic formations in general.
