Abstract

This study conducts a systematic literature review to synthesize and categorize the intellectual foundations of dynamic CEO capabilities (DCC). Drawing on 65 articles indexed in Scopus up to 2025, the analysis employs bibliographic coupling supported by VOSviewer. The findings reveal four dominant research streams: (i) dynamic CEO capabilities under uncertainty, (ii) the components of dynamic managerial capabilities and their impact on organizational performance, (iii) strategic cognition and organizational adaptability, and (iv) CEO dynamic capabilities in digital transformation and technological contexts. While prior studies highlight the role of DCC in driving organizational change, an integrative theoretical framework that connects individual, organizational, and macroenvironmental factors remains underdeveloped. This review addresses these gaps and outlines avenues for future research, particularly in conceptualizing DCC as a pivotal strategic agent in increasingly volatile business environments.
