Abstract This study examines factors affecting the performance of 26 commercial banks listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) over the period 2011–2024. Using Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) estimation, the findings reveal that bank size, equity capital, inflation, and economic growth positively influence bank performance, whereas credit risk provisions, operating costs, and customer deposits have negative effects. The results provide useful implications for managers and policymakers in improving the operational efficiency of Vietnam’s commercial banking sector.
