Integrated assessment of multi-functional forest economic development associated with forest ecosystemconservationin Son La province

Abstract

   By reviewing secondary documents, surveying and collecting information and data of typical forest-based economic development models, and consulting representatives of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Forest Protection, District’s/Commune’s People’s Committees, Special-use forest/Protection forest Management Boards and households involving in forest-based economic development in Son La province, the study results show that: Forest-based economic models in Son La province are diverse in form  with varying level of effectiveness and impact at different scales. Most of the models are potential to continue expanding to take advantages of forest ecosystem services. However, every model has its own risks that need to be fully assessed before being widely replicatedin the province.
