STUDYING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RICE PRODUCTION AND METHANE EMISSION IN VIETNAM
Keywords:
Abstract
Rice is a staple food for more than half of the world's population and is grown mainly in flooded fields, creating anaerobic conditions favorable to the growth of methanogenic bacteria. Methane (CH4) is a greenhouse gas with the potential to cause a greenhouse effect about 25 times stronger than CO2 over a period of 100 years. The relationship between rice production and methane emissions is an important issue in developing climate change mitigation strategies. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between rice production and methane emissions, based on data from Vietnam from 1990 to 2020.
