RESEARCH ON FACTORS INFLUENCING THE CONTAINER SHIPPING THROUGH INLAND WATERWAYS IN NORTHERN VIETNAM

Abstract

Container shipping via inland waterways plays an important role in alleviating pressure on other transport modes, serving as a vital link for maritime transport and promoting sustainable development in the transport industry. Although the North of Vietnam having numerous advantages, such as an extensive network of rivers, which creates significant potential, container shipping via inland waterways has not yet achieved the expected results. Therefore, this study aims to rank the importance of the factors affecting the development of container shipping via inland waterway in the northern region of Vietnam, employing the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) for assessment. Based on the importance ranking of these factors, critical solutions will be suggested to address this issue.
