TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION USING GEOMETRIC COMPONENTS FOR DIRECT EXTRACTION OF OPTIMIZED DESIGNS

Abstract

This is an extension of our previous work, an improved topology optimization approach of structures using geometric components is presented. The geometric components are parameterized with geometric parameters by projecting them on a fixed grid. The boundary of the optimal structure is explicitly expressed by the geometric parameters, allowing direct extraction of the final design without having to go through many steps of post-processing topologically optimized results.
