RESEARCH ON DETERMINING SET OF COMPETITIVE FACTORS USED TO RANK CONTAINER TERMINALS IN HAIPHONG

Abstract

Haiphong port has played the role of gateway port for import-export commodities of not only the host city but also the Northern of Vietnam. In recent years, parallel with the growth of local economy, Haiphong port has developed to be an important logistics center of the country. The volume of port throughput, especially containerized cargoes have increased significantly. New container terminals begin their operation making the competition among local terminals fiercer. The paper purpose is to determine a set of competitive factors based on the application of qualitative technique. The paper’s results will be able to used in the future research in evaluating and ranking the local container terminals in terms of their competitiveness.
