DETERMINATION OF REQUIRED PRESSURE FOR INTERFERENCE FIT BETWEEN SHIP PROPELLER SHAFT AND ITS SLEEVE

Abstract

Ship propeller shafts are covered by shaft sleeves to protect from wear and corrosion. These mating parts are normally interference-fitted and determined almost by experience. The aim of this study is to establish a general procedure to estimate necessary interference-fit for propeller shaft-sleeve mating parts based on working load.
