Abstract

As more than 70% of the earth's surface area is surrounded by seas and oceans, the sea is an important part of the human habitat. The sea provides not only an environment for commercial transportation and tourism activities but also aquatic resources and abundant natural resources. For Vietnam which is a country with a coastline along the length of the country, the sea plays an important role in the strategy to help Vietnam enrich from the sea. However, in the current context of Vietnam's strong economic, ecological and social transformation, the marine environment security is being threatened. The paper focuses on identifying threats to Vietnam's marine environment security, analyzing Vietnam's mechanisms, policies and laws on marine environment security and proposing some effective solutions to enhance the marine environment security.
