RESEARCH ON ELEMENTS OF EFFICIENT OPERATION OF MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT FOR CONTAINERIZED CARGOES BETWEEN HAI PHONG AND BAC NINH

Abstract

Haiphong port plays an important role as the international gateway of Northern Vietnam and the whole country. In recent years, the volume of cargoes, especially containerized, through the port has increased gradually. The efficient and effective operation and management of transport network to both reduce logistics cost and avoid congestion therefore are extremely important. This paper will firstly analyze the current situation of transport network connecting Haiphong port and then, suggest appropriate multimodal transport carrying containers on the route between Haiphong port and Bac Ninh, as well as identify elements that might impact on the operational efficient of the modal. The research results will be the input for later studies on examining the role of given elements to the transport modal operation.
