CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST RURAL WOMEN IN ONLINE NEWSPAPERS

Currently, prejudices and stereotypes about violence against women, especially women in rural areas, still persist in the press. Despite the growing severity of violence against women, media coverage, particularly in online news outlets, continues to be influenced by subjective biases of journalists and reporters, leading to significant negative impacts on the public. Therefore, this research analyzes media discourse (specifically online news) to identify reporting methods and underlying messages conveyed by the authors. Within the scope of this paper, we analyze discourse using Fairclough’s three-dimensional discourse analysis model to examine trends in the development of content in news articles. In-depth interviews with experts and document analysis complement this approach. This research aims to provide valuable recommendations on strategies and reporting methods for sensitive issues like violence against rural women in the media
