Abstract

The article is a part of the research results “Strategic gender needs of the Ede people in Krong Jing commune, M’Drak district, Dak Lak province” using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Te article focuses on studying and analyzing the strategic gender needs and barriers of the Ede people in Krong Jing commune, M’Drak district, Dak Lak province. Strategic gender needs and barriers are analyzed based on gender roles in the family through: production, reproduction, and community activities. Research results show that the people of Ede mainly maintain the traditional division of labor. For examples: men take the main role in production and community roles, women take on the main role of reproduction. Tis leads to gender issues. People have the need to share the work they undertake, towards a more harmonious life in the family. Tose are the basic strategic gender needs. However, meeting people’s strategic gender needs still faces many barriers related to awareness, prejudices, gender stereotypes related to culture ,and other socio-economic issues.
