Reading is very important to university students, including Social Work students of the Vietnam Women’s Academy. This article summarises the findings of a study named “Reading habits of university students, case study of Social Work students of the Vietnam Women’s Academy”. 120 students from the faculty of Social Work were selected randomly using multistage random sampling technique. This study investigates reading habits among Social Work students such as reading frequency, average time for reading per day, when to read, types of reading materials, reading places and reading resources. It is noted that 41,7% of students read every day and around two third read for more than thirty minutes a day. The majority (65%) read in the evenings. The most of respondents choose house/dormitory as popular reading place. The results also state that the percentage of respondents reading e-materials is 2,5 times higher than those who read printed materials and their reading resources are from the internet. Base on the findings, the authors propose some solutions to encourage students to read more regularly.
