Abstract

Social work in Vietnam is in the development stage especially, after the Decision No.32/2010/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister issued on 5th of March, 2020 on approving the “Project on the development of social work in Vietnam in the period of 2010-2020”. Social work has become a profession in Vietnam and is currently in the process of professionalization in both training and research aspects. Therefore, choosing adaptable approaches and building suitable theoretical models, both in research and practice has been given and attracted much attention. There are different approaches, including, but not limited to system approach and people in the environment approach, human demand - based approach, and human right based. Along with that, how to apply sociological and social theories? This article aims to identify the application of approaches, and of theoretical and practical models of social work in Vietnam. Thereby, implications are proposed and pointed out for the development of social work in Vietnam.
