Abstract

Tis paper is based on the results of the qualitative research on “Child sexual abuse prevention in the Sa Pa tourist destination” conducted by the Vietnam Women’s Academy in 2021. Te key fndings show that the current awareness campaigns against child sexual abuse mostly target students in high school. However, similar programs for parents, caregivers, and the community in general remain low-effect and limited, with
considerable differences in implementation across communes/wards and ethnicities. Given the current state of communication campaigns against child sexual abuse, the article then provides some further practices in order to beter promote child sexual abuse prevention in Sa Pa: boosting the particpation of all sectors and mass organizations in campaigns; promoting communication activities for parents, caregivers, and the community; providing knowledge and skills for grassroots cadres of commune/wards, villages/hamlets; diversifying communication forms through using digital techonoly; providing propaganda materials in ethnic monirity languages, and actively communicating in ethnic groups with customs and habits that influence and lead to the increase of the children sexcual abuse
