Applying Basel II in Vietnamese commercial banks and chellenges

Abstract

    Since the end of 2015, ten commercial banks will apply experimentally the Basel II according to the strategydeveloped by the State Bank of Vietnam. This process will be completed by 2018, then applied to commercial banks in Vietnam.According to experts, the pilot implementing regulations and standards of Basel II will create opportunities and challenges forcommercial banks in Vietnam. The paper discusses about advantages and challenges for Vietnamese commercial banks during theimplementation of the Basel II.
