This study investigates the role and effectiveness of designing and using flashcards in high school history education to enhance teaching quality and develop students' self-learning and creative thinking skills. A quantitative study was conducted in Hanoi with the participation of 21 teachers and 457 students to identify advantages and challenges and propose an effective process and measures for using flashcards. The findings indicate that flashcards are valuable tools that help students retain knowledge more deeply and for longer periods while increasing their learning engagement. Various technological tools such as Quizlet, Canva, and Flashcard Deluxe have significantly supported teachers in designing flashcards. However, challenges related to time constraints, technological skills, and student motivation remain significant obstacles. The flashcard design process includes five steps, from defining lesson objectives to evaluating their effectiveness. This research provides both theoretical and practical foundations for integrating flashcards into history teaching, contributing to the innovation of teaching methods in high schools.
