Abstract
The application of active teaching methods, such as game-based learning, remains limited, especially the use of specialized mobile games in science lessons in general and Chemistry teaching in particular. This study proposes design principles and an ADD-ChEM procedure, comprising six steps (Analysis - Design - Development - Check & Calibrate - Evaluation - Maintenance & Update), for developing mobile games to support Grade 10 Chemistry teaching. Each step in this procedure is illustrated in detail through the design and development of "ChimicaRun", a mobile game on the Roblox platform, integrating obstacle course gameplay with a Checkpoint-Quiz mechanism to practice and reinforce knowledge of "Reaction Rate" and "Halogens". The game incorporates features such as diverse question forms, a support system, and a classroom management interface for teachers. The study provides scientific guidelines supporting teachers in developing usable mobile games, helping to enhance students’ interest, motivation, and learning effectiveness in Chemistry at high schools.
