Abstract

This paper used a document research method to find typical translation certificates in South Korea, the characteristics of those certificates and some recommendations for Vietnam. The results of the study show that South Korea is a country with a highly respected professional certification system, as demonstrated by the official promulgation of the Basic Law on Certificates in 1997. Among them, there are some certificates of translating and interpreting competence that are growing in their popularity such as ITT certificate, STI certificate, TCT certificate or Judicial interpreting certificate. These certificates are used during students’ learning process at university or recruitment procedures of some companies. Figuring out and learning how to organize the test, its structure, time of the exam and so on will be useful lessons for Vietnam in the future.
