Abstract

From 1954 to 1964, relations between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Laos witnessed significant developments. When the Laotian revolutionary movement led by the Lao Patriotic Front faced acute shortages of medicines and medical equipment, Vietnam - guided by the spirit of proletarian internationalism and the principle “helping friends is helping ourselves” - provided medical assistance. This included supplying medicines and equipment, dispatching personnel, and training Laotian medical staff. These activities not only met urgent revolutionary needs but also embodied the special Vietnam-Laos relationship within Vietnam’s foreign policy and the allied resistance strategy against the United States.
