In the history of Vietnam’s monarchical regime from the 10th to the 19th century, the Red River Delta has always been an important economic hub, bustling with agricultural, artisanal, and commercial activities. The market network in this region was established early on and played a vital role in facilitating the exchange of goods among local people. This article explores the development of the market network in the delta in terms of quantity, scale, trading activities, and the state’s administrative policies over this network throughout the feudal period.
