Abstract
The establishment of the Vietnam Catholic Salvation Front (Tổ chức Việt Nam Công giáo cứu quốc) after the August Revolution of 1945 reflected a strong expression of national unity between the revolutionary government and Vietnamese Catholics. Using historical and political approaches, this article analyzes the case of the patriotic Catholic movement in the North - particularly in Nam Định Province (in present-day Ninh Bình) - as vivid evidence of the relationship between religious faith and patriotism.
