SITUATION OF M&A ACTIVITIES OF FOREIGN BANKS IN VIETNAM

Abstract

In recent years, Vietnamese economy has witnessed many mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals of international financial institutions, mainly foreign banks, financial companies, investment funds and other international financial institutions that are operating effectively in the field of M&A. The activities of international financial institutions in M&A are promoting the development of Vietnam'sfinancial market, deeper integration with international economic community as well as the restructuring of credit institutions and Vietnamese enterprises. This study focuses on analyzing the current status of M&A activities of international financial institutionsthrough different methods of analysis, statistics, assessment of the current situation and thereby proposing some recommendations for the Government and state banks to promote M&A activities and create a stable development for the Vietnamese economy.
