Designing the real problems in mathematics teaching at the high school
Abstract
As a matter of fact, teaching mathematics connected to real life has become a trend that our general education curriculum is trying to follow. However, the number of real-life problems given in each mathematics lesson is still limited, which leads to the fact that not many students are able to see the connection between mathematics in school and their real life. Designing real-life problems, therefore, will help students actively engage in problem-solving and enjoy mathematics more. This article presents some methods of designing and using real problems in the teaching practice. Some illustrative examples are also suggested along with some discussion over the integration of real-life problems into mathematics classrooms.
