Peer Review and Publication Process

The Tan Tao University Journal of Science strictly adheres to a double-blind peer-review process to ensure scientific quality and objectivity. The identities of the reviewers will be concealed from the authors and vice versa.

To be published in the Journal, all submitted manuscripts must go through the following steps: preliminary screening by the Editorial Board, anonymous evaluation by independent experts, revision by the authors, and final approval by the Editor-in-Chief.

  1. Manuscript Submission

The corresponding author submits the manuscript online via the Editorial Management System at the website: https://tjs.ttu.edu.vn/.

Note: The Journal encourages authors to submit articles via the online system instead of via email to ensure the tracking and processing workflow of the article.

  2. Preliminary Screening and Plagiarism Check

Immediately upon receiving the article, the Editorial Board will conduct a preliminary screening:

    - Scope and Formatting: Checking whether the manuscript aligns with the aims and scope, and complies with the Journal's formatting guidelines.

    - Plagiarism Check: The manuscript will be scanned through a specialized plagiarism detection system (such as iThenticate or Turnitin) to ensure originality and no copyright infringement.

If the manuscript passes the preliminary screening, a Section Editor will be assigned to oversee the peer review process. At this stage, the Editor has the right to reject the manuscript if its quality is deemed unsatisfactory or unsuitable for the Journal.

  3. Recommendation of Reviewers

The Section Editor will invite at least 02 reviewers with appropriate expertise to evaluate the manuscript.

    - Mechanism: Double-blind peer review. The authors do not know who the reviewers are, and the reviewers are not given the authors' identities.

    - Criteria: Reviewers evaluate based on novelty, research methodology, data reliability, and the scientific contribution of the article.

  4. Review Assessment

After careful review, the reviewers will return an evaluation form along with one of the following recommendations:

    - Accept submission.

    - Minor revisions.

    - Major revisions.

    - Resubmit for review.

    - Decline submission.

Based on these review reports, the Section Editor will make the next processing decision regarding the manuscript.

  5. Revisions

If the manuscript requires revision, the authors are responsible for:

    - Making revisions based on the comments from the reviewers and Editor.

    - Attaching a Response to Reviewers, explaining in detail each point that has been changed or the reason for maintaining their stance.

    - Clearly highlighting the revised parts in the new manuscript.

  6. Final Decision

After reviewing the recommendations of the reviewers, the authors' revised manuscript, and the Section Editor's report, the Editorial Board (or Editor-in-Chief) will make the final decision.

    - Once all academic and editorial issues have been resolved, the manuscript will receive a Letter of Acceptance.

    - The article will then proceed to the technical editing, layout, and publication phase in the next sequential issue.

Publication Ethics

Authors' Ethical Commitments

Authors submitting articles to the Journal must commit that the manuscript is an original research work, has never been published in any form (full text or abstract), and is not simultaneously submitted to any other journal, conference proceedings, or scientific publication. Authors are only allowed to submit the article elsewhere after receiving an official rejection notice from the Journal.

For research involving hazardous chemicals, equipment, or procedures, authors must commit to fully complying with Vietnamese legal regulations and guidelines of relevant international organizations. If the research subjects are humans or animals, authors must demonstrate compliance with the ethical guidelines in biomedical research of the Ministry of Health and international conventions recognized by Vietnam. In cases of exemption from ethical review, the reasons and evidence must be clearly stated in the article. Research subjects must be guaranteed privacy, information confidentiality, and provided with sufficient information for informed consent to participate in the research.

In addition, authors need to demonstrate respect for colleagues, a sense of social responsibility, and absolutely must not show any discrimination related to gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or other non-academic factors.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of all peer review, revision, and editorial documents received from the Journal. Concurrently, it is necessary to secure information related to research participants, funding organizations, commercial or military information, and content classified as sensitive and confidential.

Duties of the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board plays a central role in the scientific article appraisal process, with specific duties as follows:

  • Receiving articles and assigning them to reviewers with appropriate expertise, ensuring objectivity and depth in the evaluation process.
  • Monitoring the peer review progress, ensuring the process is transparent and on time, while handling any arising situations related to academic ethics or conflicts of interest (if any).
  • Synthesizing and analyzing review comments to make initial academic decisions: accept, request revisions (minor or major), or reject the article.
  • Acting as a bridge between reviewers and authors, transferring review feedback clearly and scientifically, along with specific instructions to assist authors in improving the article.
  • Ensuring the article meets both academic content and formatting requirements before proceeding to the editorial publication stage.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are responsible for ensuring the academic quality of the article through an independent, objective, and confidential evaluation process, with the following main duties:

  • Evaluating the novelty, scientific merit, research structure, methodologies used, reliability of results, and academic arguments within the article.
  • Detecting errors in content, methodology, or arguments; pointing out unclear, incomplete, or potentially misleading points.
  • Providing constructive comments based on scientific evidence, accompanied by clear recommendations on the manuscript's status: accept, request revision, or reject.
  • Strictly complying with academic ethical principles, including maintaining the confidentiality of the manuscript, avoiding conflicts of interest, and not using unpublished information for any personal or academic purposes.

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

The Journal resolutely opposes all acts of plagiarism in any form. Plagiarism is a serious violation of scientific ethical standards, including:

  • Intentionally or unintentionally copying content (sentences, paragraphs, data, images, ideas, etc.) from other sources without properly crediting the source or citing correctly.
  • Excessive use of cited content, even if sourced, resulting in an article that is primarily a compilation of other documents without new academic contributions.
  • Falsifying the source of information or the author's name of the cited content.
  • "Self-plagiarism": Reusing significant parts of previously published works without stating the source, including duplicate publication of an article or only making minor changes to data to create a new article.

The Journal uses plagiarism checking software (such as Turnitin) to detect duplication and only accepts articles with a similarity index of less than 20%. Articles exceeding this threshold will be requested for revision or rejected right at the preliminary screening stage.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Journal

The Journal operates strictly under the license of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) and fully adheres to ethical standards, as well as international and Vietnamese intellectual property laws. All manuscripts are received, peer-reviewed, edited, and published through a transparent, fair online system, uninfluenced by personal factors such as gender, academic degree, workplace, or financial factors.

The Journal is committed to securing the personal information of authors, reviewers, editors, and readers; not sharing data with third parties, unless requested by legal authorities.

Handling Violations of Publication Ethics

When ethical violations are detected or reported (plagiarism, academic fraud, conflict of interest, discrimination, etc.), the Journal will conduct an investigation, verify, and apply appropriate disciplinary measures, including but not limited to:

  • Requesting revisions to the article.
  • Rejecting or withdrawing the article from the Journal's database.
  • Publicly announcing the reasons for violation on the official website.
  • Banning the violating author from submitting articles for a period of 1 to 3 years, depending on the severity of the violation.
  • Reporting the violation to the author's affiliated institution or scientific management agency if necessary.

If the authors themselves discover and self-report their errors during the manuscript processing, the Journal encourages this spirit of honesty and will consider mitigating the disciplinary measures upon sufficient accompanying evidence.

The Tan Tao University Journal of Science operates on a non-profit open-access model. Currently, the Journal does not charge any fees to authors, including:
