Information is currently available in many platforms, both online and offline, which makes it difficult for students to identify whether the information is reliable or not. Fake news, that is not factual or genuine but presented to mislead readers, appears in all topics, impacting how readers think and act. Moreover, young learners can be considered to be the main consumers of fake news as they are most vulnerable and most exposed to social networks where information can be posted without censorship. It is, therefore, significant to teach young learners how to distinguish genuine news from fake news. In this article, steps to teach students how to think critically when reading an article will be presented.
