Vocabulary plays a vital role in the process of learning foreign languages in general and English in particular. There have been lots of studies in methods of teaching vocabulary for students but very few ones about how students learn new words. Studying the studying habits, time frame at home and students’ opinions on methods used by teachers may help learning and teaching English better. The survey was carried out to find out about the habits, time frame and methods that students applied to study vocabulary as well as the advantages and disadvantages when students learn, look up new words. As a result, the research proposes innovative changes so that students at Thuongmai University have better methods of studying vocabulary
